Hello! We are…... Jim & Janet
World Travellers & Newbie BloggersWho are we and what do we do....
We are Jim (61 & Male) and Janet (51 & Female) and living together in the South of the UK.
I think you would class us as adventurous travellers as we always seek adventure in all the travels we do, we tend to veer off the beaten track and take the back streets, rural villages and unspoilt culture when we can. It is safe to say that we are not “tourist travellers” as we have the best times away from the popular areas. We are also PADI qualified divers so we also get to see a different world “under the water” together too, so we will also share some of our underwater world photos and video footage of some incredible dive sites that we experience from around the world.
I (Jim) have taken early retirement a few years ago now in order to fulfill a dream of travelling as much of the World as possible, visiting some of the Countries that need to be visited before they get spoilt and change beyond all recognition, losing the different ways of life that are lived and the culture that is so different to the western world I live in. Early retirement has allowed me to experience some long term travelling prior to getting together with Janet so you will see some trips on our Blog that are my “solo” trips and of course our latest trips have been as a couple.
I (Janet) take longer term leave from my work in order that we can travel as a couple and enjoy the travelling together which works really well as I tend to take on the role of the planner as Jim is always looking for the adventure side to our travels and I must say that we do work well together and form a great team. We get so much more out of our travelling experiences as well as having each other by our side to enjoy both the amazing adventures, scenery, culture and weird foods together.
When you visit several countries over one period of travel, you do need the ability to be flexible in your plans and itinerary and that’s why we don’t book more than one or two days ahead. We don’t have any “specific” plans other than an idea of what we would like to see/experience.
A little further down this page we explain more about our travel, how we decide where to go, what to do, the order that we travel from country to country in, where we stay for the night, what type of accommodation we choose, budgeting, pros and cons of travelling in under developed/third world countries and other tips and experiences that we’d like to share with you.

Travel Highlight Reel

How much travelling do we do?
We travel together for a full 4 months of every year plus a few shorter duration (2 week duration breaks / holidays) thrown in and usually taken a few months after we get back to the UK, just to keep us going until the next big trip.
What criteria do we use when choosing our destinations? The key factors for us personally are Temperature and Climate, a different lifestyle to the European lifestyle we lead in order that we get to live a part of our lives within the culture of the Countries we travel in
Recent Travels
We have not posted all of our travels on this Blog, just the main ones that we feel people will be interested in. Amendments to the site will be made in order to provide a better experience for anyone looking, this will be carried out as soon as I know what I’m doing.
